Our Story
Giovanna Gelato e Sorbet is inspired by the rich Italian gelato-making traditions, which have long been practiced in Argentina, where founder Eduardo Kreindel grew up. After leaving his job as an architect, he started Giovanna in a 350-square-foot space. Before long, he outgrew that space and opened a much larger facility in Malden, Massachusetts.
Today, Giovanna gelatos and sorbets are available in over 120 stores in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, scoop shops, fine restaurants, and catering services. The products are made in small batches with premium ingredients then hand-packed in the Malden facility. The flavors range from classic Italian, like tiramisu and espresso, to classic Argentinean, like dulce de leche, to modern creations, like sea salt caramel. There are also several seasonal releases each year. In addition, Giovanna custom-designs products for chefs at some of Boston’s most celebrated restaurants. Past customized gelatos include Japanese plum, truffle, and marshcotti, a marshmallow and biscotti-laced treat.
